I deinstalled all omega software. Next I used driver cleaner. I then deleted the folders which got not deleted. I used registry cleaner, then checked the registry manually" for "radeon", "ati", "catalyst", "omega". I defragged, and rebooted after having downloaded the new (and complete omega package). ATI control centre was deinstalled for sure.

Installation took time. The missinfg file-message is no more, however, a device named ATI T200 unified AVStream driver does not get found, error code 10, device not working. Haven'T notcied anything on it, don't know what it is.Yellow exclamation mark in hardware manager. Google says plenty of people are suffering this symptom.

A new ATI control centre got installed, too, I checked the date in the property box, it was installed during the omega installation process. I did not touch it.

I changed screen resolution, settings and gamma, saved all that as my profile. I ticked the "enable hotkeys" box. I set up hotkeys for increasing/decreasing gamma, and loading my profile on the fly.

Hotkeys do not work.

rebooted. Monitor loads desktop with dark swettings, but then goes black (not part of the suual windows loading routine), then comes up with the new gamma settings. I have enabled the ATI Tray Tools to be loaded with windows at startup. It is there.

Jumped into a game, played a minute, return to desktop: Dark default settings again. Tray Tool is no more. Need to manually start it again. Hotkeys do not work, neither with nor without tray tools active.

tried to contact the mail store in order to negotiate a return and replacement with an nVidia board whose drivers since ten years haven't given me any trouble. Already closed for weekend, great. Googled again, with different search, found that I am not the only one having problems with messed up ATI software. Should have stayed with what has been proven reliable and good since over ten years for me, nVidia. Wanted to do that from the beginning - why, oh why haven't I? For what I have gotten, even 200 Euros is too much. Good hardware without reliable software is worth only the half.
