CapnScurvy had a fix, which I think he released separately for Stock, but it is in his OTC (Optical Targeting Correction) mod, as well as FotRSU. However, there is no real way to fix the problem. All you can do is re-arrange the order of the medals, put some lipstick on the pig, and hope for the best...
