Last year was the 75th anniversary of D-Day and we were camping in Edisto Island State Park and we went to this memorial and history thing at the USS Yorktown, a museum ship docked at Charleston harbor. They did a thing at the beginning where they had maybe 5 or 6 D-Day veterans talk about their experiences. One of them was
15 when he enlisted into the US Navy by lying about his age and stealing a birth certificate.
He had some guts to lie to the US Navy.

I agree with you here, many young men perished back then. True heroes and brave souls they were.
