I agree that a sub wasn't meant to ram ships, and I should suffer some serious damage after all those hits, but... a cargo doesn't have a thick hull, and the sharp bow should bend metal.

Ever heard about the Empress of Ireland?
A large liner was sunk in 15 minutes by being rammed by a smaller cargo.
Ramming can damage and sink ships.
