The building is "Del Rio" a 1920s addition to the area. Sadly they don't make 'em like that any more.

Once part of the Estate of the 19thC Colonial Secretary Alexander Macleay.
An interesting man. Heavily into Science and Natural History. He had massive collections of all sorts of Curios and a great lover of Beauty. He also went broke, and his collections now furnish a few museums and libraries around here in Sydney.
"Elizabeth Bay House" was his, and had extensive beautiful landscaped gardens. The Colonial Government took it over, and over the years the gardens have been "shrunk" to only a few patches here and there. But they're still very impressive.
One such "patch" is "Arthur Mcelhone Reserve"...it's won all sorts of awards and is a living testament to Alexander Macleay's good taste.
A lot of my friends have had their ashes scattered here.
