I noted in the link you posted a reference is made to a Gibson SG guitar Johnson uses:

He uses this guitar live often when he need to go for the Gibson tone.

I found that interesting since Hendrix would do the same when he played Red House live, usually using an SG and becuse he also wanted to get that "Gibson sound"...
