West & inbound to Sydney or Halifax or East & 'inbound' to England ?

What does last bit mean - W(ind) 5 (knots), Sea 4 (metre swell), MB 97 (barometric pressure 9700 nha) ??

Also wondering now how possible it is to converge with other subs when messages says,
"U-47, 52, 94, 99, 101: Pursue convoy. AM44." ?

Can any &/or all messages be taken literally or are they simply for effect/atmosphere?

Maybe I've been 'at sea' too long

Not sure what mod(s) you're using, but unless you see a contact report on the map those messages are meaningless/immersion only.
