Japan is slowly increasing testing, but not nearly enough. Total number of tests performed is now only around 9,000, but many of those are multiple tests on the same person.

From the beginning, the worthless bureaucrats have tried to cover up this pandemic by pretending Japan is immune. No testing = No infections.

There were almost zero flight restrictions until just recently. Thousands of Chinese tourists continued to flow into Japan every day until about 10 days ago. All they cared about was protecting tourism profits and the Olympic Games. Schools are now closed, and large events are being cancelled, but it's too little, too late as far as I'm concerned.

They made the same mistakes as Italy by waking up too late, and it's going to cost them dearly. Japan has the oldest population in the world (Italy is second). There will be many, many deaths here.

Italy reports at least 2,313 new cases on Wednesday. Largest daily increase so far.
Quote:
Italy has recorded a jump of 2,313 coronavirus cases on Wednesday, with the total tally now at 12,462, the country's Civil Protection Agency said.

This is the biggest recorded jump since the outbreak began, but the head of the Italian Civil Protection Agency Angelo Borelli said that authorities did not have all of the data for Lombardy, the worst hit region, on Tuesday so those numbers did not fully reflect the situation.
