To improve sounds - and the crew look - in TWOS, I use a personalized mod called:
TWoS_ADJUSTED_Stormys_DBSM (TWOS compatible).
It will turn the crew into the style of 'Das Boot' movie and highly improve sounds and speech.
If you want I can drop the readme of this mod, it's not downloadable because modified from an existing mod, so you would have to build it yourself for personal usage.
