to that end, there seems to be two definitions of exterior camera.
one seems to rotate around the sub, and the other seems to rotate around the ship in the display.
i am playing TMO+RSRD and the definition of f12 is:

i included the previous key because i had never noticed multiple commands for camera. so, these two different free cameras could perform totally different. or, not.
as soon as i finish my patrol i will have to test the two out on the same keyboard.
