Uhmmmm...i noticed that the game use a lot of RAM, especially with mods that improve naval traffics and adds some atmosphere to harbour (like merchant and patrolling traffic), i've not tried GW, beacuse it raise the realism a little too high for me, standard settings fit well, except for 2 thing: atmosphere and bug fix
So when i say "try UC" then i have to make an advice too: upgrade your RAM ('cause actually i have 1 GB and sometimes with TCs i've encountered problem, with stock never happened).
IMHO, this is my experience.
