Ship Losses:

Columbia (United States) The passenger ship capsized and sank in the Illinois River with the loss of 87 or 175 lives (depending on sources).
Vera Elizabeth (United Kingdom) The auxiliary schooner was shelled and sunk in the Atlantic Ocean 54 nautical miles (100 km) south by east of Suğuroy, Faroe Islands (60°42′N 5°32′W) by SM U-60 ( Kaiserliche Marine). Her crew survived.
