My I dea even before 43 if a Neutral is sailing under armed escort "she fair game"
I just started my 6th career and got a radio message saying something like "all tankers under escort or whatever should be consider as contriband because of there cargo would be useful to the enemy or word to that effect.
So I have changed in my basic .cfg any Neutral ship I sink I will not lose renown.i think by default it's -3 I chaned mine to 1.
I agree - it would only be for the odd lone merchant or pair you run across - as far as I'm concerned any ship in a convoy is fair game, and the last thing I'm gonna do is snap on a searchlight in the middle of a convoy and let everybody know I'm there. Just thought it would be cool to have an option in the early war to ID the flag with something other than a star shell, but I admit it would have limited usefulness, which I suppose explains why I've never seen a picture of one on a u-boat now that I think about it.

I also modded out the neutral renown penalty a long time ago - I am very conscientious about not going after neutrals sailing alone, so I don't need the game to enforce this particular behavior on me at the expense of getting unfairly dinged for convoy attacks.
