I might as well pop my question:

When I receive reports of a convoy, I uasually sprint ahead of the convoy (as far as 100 km to do so) and then engage the convoy.

After I'm done loosing my fish I plot an approximate direction they'll be heading, surface a safe distance from the convoy (usually about 8km south/north and behind them) and sprint on average 40-50 km ahead of the convoy and listen for escorts/merchants and position my sub. When I have an opputunity I then attack them again.

I stop when I run out of torps. I suppose one could consider it a cheap substitute for the wolf-pack tactic, and a good deal of the time that when I've re-positioned myself (a good 2 or 3 hours after the first attack) the convoy is making a bee-line towards port.

Does anyone else use this tactic? I called it the "Leapfrog Tactic"
