In October 1952, the United States tests its first thermonuclear device. Nine months later, the Soviets test an H-bomb of their own. The clock is moved to two minutes. Then as the USSR and the USA accumulate huge arsenals of these weapons and face each other in menacing postures during the cold war the clock goes down. Doesn't seem right.
