I am from the Uk orderd mine last year played it and love it, not new to subsim's but the manual isnt worth the paper its printed on the CD one does perfect i know its not the same but the manual lacks alot of things.
take a look at
www.subguru.com on the downloads page theres tonnes of tactical and helpful manuals that are not included in that big bulky 570 page one, whats more our small and many manuals cover nearly everything together.
I have written a guide to under ice operations mahuja has written a guide for the frigate and many more also, many fleets out there that do train people to use this game as a special art, multiplayers and what not.
I can say all you will need to play this game effectivly is the manuals from subguru and your away, theres other sites out there to like
