Yes, admittedly, I am a "noob". But isn't EVERYONE a noob at some point? In the immortal words of Rodney King: "Can't we all just get along?"
Even though I am having an easy time of it through 1940, I fully expect that things will get much harder fairly quickly. I've already noticed that from September of 39 to May of 40, allied air cover has increased a lot. I'm under no illusions that I will somehow possess the skill to last all the way through 45. It will be interesting to see how long I do last, though.
In fact, that might be a good idea for a thread: What's the longest career/most patrols/highest tonnage anyone has achieved?
To answer your question: at this point I am not running any mods. I'm just running stock SH3 patched to 1.4b. I've been holding off on running any mods until I get a handle on the normal game...and until I determine which ones, of the plethora of mods available, I want to use. It's hard to decide. Tonnage War has some very appealing aspects with the fact that the renown system is dispensed with. Grey Wolves Supermod has been getting a lot of praise lately, though. It's tough to decide....
