Because the eyepiece fits the eye, realistically both 'scopes should fill the whole screen. I think there have been mods that do as you ask, but I can't remember which ones at the moment.
Thanks heaps for chiming in, Steve, greatly appreciated. I totally agree on the night&day issue with the scopes and it has been a minor grief of mine that. IIRC, manuals and elsewhere, it was mentioned that the Obs scope was better at night but in the actual game, I have never in the 7-8 years I've been playing SH3 noticed any difference at all other than zoom levels and scales/markings. Would be great if the choice of scopes would make a difference both in night time useability as well as chance of being spotted.

It appears than in the original (???) OLC mod, the obs scope was indeed more full screen but seeing MaGui uses parts of OLC, but not all, I'm in doubt over whether importing the OLC Obs scope would work without breaking MaGui or not.
