Main problem in DW is weapons/sensors for older units. You can add any platform but you can't change weapon loadout.
For example:
All
Akula's (in service since: 1984) have
SS-N-27 Sizzler missiles (in service since: 2012)
another one:
All
F-15 (in service since: 1976) have
AIM-120 AMRAAM (in service since: 1991)
Next problem is lacking of many older versions of units for russian fleet.
Example:
For Russia you can find only newest verssions of Tarantul class (only III with SS-N-22 Sunburn or V with SS-N-25 Switchblade)
Tarantul I is availabe from polish navy batabase (version with SS-N-2D Styx)
... but many minor warships doesn't exists in database.
All above makes creating "vintage" scenarios is incredibly difficult.
