If you want to play with manual targeting then I would say you are stuck with what you have got.
Auto targeting is basically point and shoot with all the calculations done for you so you do not need the TDC.
sobers mega mod would be the natural alternative followed by the Magui mega mod Wolves Of The Deep which is a total contrast to the other two as it does not use real navigation or TDW's Options File Editor Viewer IIRC.
Well worth investigating.
