Couldn't get a gallon into mine either. On the other hand I could fill it up for 10 cents. On the other other hand its top speed was around 30 miles per hour, and when I was carrying a friend on it, it wouldn't climb a hill, so we both got of and I idled it up the hill while we both walked beside it.
