I have to share this one which made me immediately save and exit (for now.)

April '42 and I am assigned to sail from Pearl to just SW of Tokyo. I snuck in, picked off a few merchants and then escaped further WSW. I parked at the mouth of a large bay with 3 shipping bases to see what would come my way. Late at night, a 4-ship patrol of Mutsukis came down my way and I managed to kill 3 and wound the 4th, who limped off NW into the bay. I retreated to deeper waters and set up monitoring again before cranking the time multiplier.

The multiplier stopped when contact came close, so I went to F11 to check out what's bearing down on me. Huh... it looks like a trail formation of destroyers.... 6...8... 10... wth.... I follow the length of it and there are 26 Mutsukis and 2 Fubukis at the end. HOLY CRAP! Then I spin left and see a duplicate line of ships on the horizon. I spin right and see a double line of ships. OH DEAR MOTHER OF GOD.

I was hoping for a task force, and I guess I got it. I'm just going to go deep and silent and hope for the best now!
