In an effort to ride the chess boxing craze a publicist for actor Sylvester Stallone announced that he would be changing his famous boxing character's name from 'Rocky' to 'Rooky'. "We think people will love the subtle word play being that the rook is a powerful chess piece and Rocky is new to the game." the publicist added.
Critics panned the name change. "About as likely as a decrepit white guy in the ring" to attract new fans to the aging boxing movie franchise one is quoted as saying. Another quipped: "Isn't he dead yet?"
