) , We were asked by the Russian embassy as well as the Arctic convoy veterans society to act as honorary guard for a plaque dedicated to New Zealand sailors who took part in the convoys to Murmansk and Arkhangelsk, be it as Merchant marine sailors or RN, was an amazing day and humbling to meet men who took part in what was in my view, the most horrific convoy tasks for any sailor, the PQ and QP trips, one of them actually was in PQ17!
