Couple of questions.

What experience do you have with game development? Any examples of your work?

What is your area of expertise? Modelling, coding, animation?

What about your game will make it 'the successor' to SH5? Or any SH title for that matter.

Are you truly committed? Are you willing to back such a project 100%, even financially?

There's a good reason why I ask these things. A while ago we had a member, Hans Witteman, that also proposed to make the next 'Indy' subsim. He originally was working on a mere mod for SH3 but then his ambitions grew and it took on a whole new depth, a depth he drowned in as far as I can see. Unfortunately, during this process he enlisted the help and good will of many well thought of modders here and the whole situation led to a lot of ill-feeling and toxicity on these forums when Han's promises and deadlines went undelivered. It dragged on for ages and I'm sure that nobody here wants to see a repeat of that situation again.

Due to the above occurrence, you will most likely be met with a certain degree of skepticism here, even if it isn't expressed in this thread so I'd ask that you think long and hard about whether;

A: You truly believe you can deliver.

B: You can honestly say that you are proposing a realistic project.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a new subsim that is a 'successor' to Silent Hunter 5, but I have absolutely no interest in sitting through another 'Witteman Saga'. Plus the fact that you'd be competing against the quality of Ubisoft who have oodles of cash to throw at games, a luxury you won't have, even if you use Kickstarter / Indiegogo / etc. Subsims will always be a niche market.

It's very much a case of 'once bitten, twice shy', so you'll need to be pretty convincing to get people to commit their time and expertise. I hope you don't see this as a negative post, merely a chance to reassure those that may have their doubts.

All the best.
