Nope 'Calm' \ˈkäm, ˈkälm, ˈkam, ˈkȯ(l)m\ is pronounced like 'balm' \ˈbä(l)m\ short 'a' sound: silent L (soothing panacea or unguent) Otherwise a statement such as: "The 'Calm before the storm' which may 'claim' your life...unless U spread a little balm upon the stormy waters" would B a little confusing... woodn't it.
