September 25th, 1941
The people of Bulgaria have deposed the fascist-aligned government in Sofia. The new Bulgarian government has cut off all ties with the Axis and declared its neutrality in the Soviet-German conflict. We hope the remaining people of Europe will see this and act to free themselves from the shackles of fascism and the German lackeys oppressing them.

Though not technically at war with us, Bulgaria surrendered because of the proximity of Soviet units to their borders. This probably won't have much direct effect on the Axis war effort, but it does mean that we can't be suddenly outflanked by any unexpected reserve forces.
Leningrad Front: We barely managed to hold on to the front line after a Finnish attack with both sides suffering significant casualties. The 1st Light Rifle Brigade has been thrown into the line despite not being up to strength. Three more rifle divisions have arrived by train and are on the move to reinforce the 7th Independent Army.
Northwestern Front: The remaining pocket south of Pskov has been assaulted by overwhelming force and obliterated. 8 divisions have surrendered, including the 6th Panzer Division, which was operating at less than half strength, as well as most or all of the German II and XXVIII Corps. German losses amount to some 90,000 men and just over 100 AFVs, compounding the disastrous losses they suffered the previous week. The Battle of Pskov is over.
The German defeat has left their position precariously thin. Intelligence and reconnaissance have identified only 17 German divisions holding a line some 300 miles wide, stretching from the Daugava river to the Baltic sea. Units of the Northwestern Front and the Leningrad Front's 23rd Army have been sent through the gaps in the German line in an effort to isolate the overextended German positions from each other. This will hopefully allow us to achieve a strategic breakthrough in time for my planned general offensive.
Western Front: The concentrated German mechanized formations struck east of Gomel, breaking through our hastily assembled line and advancing some 40 miles to the east. I've thrown our reserves at this position to contain the Germans, but their advance is not yet threatening anything important. The 20th and 43rd Armies attempted to retake Gomel from the Großdeutschland Motorized Regiment but failed to make headway into the city despite a manpower advantage of ten to one. Two more attacks have been launched at the German lines near Propoisk and Lepel and met similar fates. We did have success while contesting a couple of inconsequential positions, but for the most part our counteroffensive efforts in this sector have been a failure.
In the Pripyat Marshes, the 21st Army was transferred to the command of the Bryansk Front, which should hopefully be able to take over operations between the Western and Southwestern Fronts. Several divisions have been sent north through the numerous gaps in the German line. The German 7th Infantry Division is isolated on the banks of the Pripyat river but has so far resisted our attacks.

Southwestern Front: The Hungarian 1st Motorized Brigade has been hastily redeployed to oppose the advance of the Southern Front's armies coming in from Bessarabia. It took up positions in Chernovtsy but was quickly swept aside by the 40th Army, which advanced to a position 40 miles south of Tarnopol and, together with the 89th Tank Brigade, which has been sent through the Axis lines west of Proskurov, completed a limited isolation of Axis positions on the Zbruch river. In the north, the 3rd Army achieved a breakthrough east of Rovno. Our cavalry units managed to advance 30 miles to the south and link up with the 37th Army and the 6th Cavalry Corps, which have been struggling to dismantle the German lines north of Proskurov. As a result, German units around Shepetovka have also been isolated. Meanwhile, the pocket around the Dniester has been completely reduced, resulting in 80,000 more Romanian and German prisoners captured. Unless the Germans bring in reinforcements from somewhere, I doubt they have enough forces to reverse the situation on this flank.

Southern Front: 9th Army cavalry units have isolated Bucharest while the army's remaining forces launched an attack on the city from the east. The fortifications surrounding the city have been reduced, but the Romanian 4th Infantry Division managed to repulse the assault. Constanta has been captured without a fight, eliminating the last Axis-held outpost on the Black Sea coast, but the city's port facilities have unfortunately been sabotaged. Further north, the 2nd Cavalry Corps clashed with a Hungarian border guard brigade in the Carpathians and dislodged it from its position.

Overall Situation: The German positions seems to be collapsing much sooner than I expected. The mud season should be starting any time now. If the situation remains unchanged through it we should be able to launch a decisive offensive in the winter.
