I've noticed that the solution will 'jump around' if the target is changing course. (I use auto TMA, I have to confess)
To me, this seems reasonable as the TMA guy tries to get an accurate solution again (he has a correct one again after a few minutes).
A jumping solution is the first indicator to go "All stop good quiet" in case the target's new course is not a favourable one for the tracker (i.e., me). (Just like Mancuso does in
Red October!)
