Where is the best place aim to on a ship to sink it with torps or the deck gun on the surface. I know the chance of one torp will destroy a ship is very small but where is the place on a ship that has the best chance to do so?

For the deck gun, where is the best place to aim to sink it as quickly as possible and what shell type?
