The other experiment variant(2) carried the BK-5 50mm gun...As installed in the Me 262, the cannon was found to be prone to jamming, and if fired at night the BK 5's muzzle flash tended to temporarily blind the pilot's night vision. The standard 4 30mm cannon, while 'lethal on paper' had problems with jamming during maneuvering and low muzzle velocity made accuracy beyond 600 meters problematic and useless for straffing.
