Hi Fahnenbohn the Atlantic Gap was a area of Ocean in mid atlantic that Allied Aircraft could not reach but the uboats could & did
long range aircraft were in short supply like Halifax's and the new Lancaster RAF Bomber Command Wouldn't Release there so called Heavys
the B-24 Liberators USA needed them in the Paciffic things slowly improved when escort carriers arrived in fall of 1942/43
but other aircraft were allocated to Coastal Command like the Avro Anson Lockheed Hudson Armstrong Whitworth Whitley
