Wow, there seems to be a lot of horror-stories about getting this game to run. I have to ask, is it this tedious to get a non-Steam version of SH5 to work? Amazon has it for 10-US Dollars, so I'm considering going that route.

I re-bought the game from Amazon with digital download. I have modded it using the Wolves of Steel megamod, which includes .exe patching, and it works fine.
