I've always played the Russian subs for whatever reason. I love the looks of them, and the ships themselves are better except in stealth and sonar capabilities. they make up for it in speed, depth, and the vast and diverse armament you can carry on them. I mean what do the US boats have for arms? Mk-46 or 48 torps, tomahawks, and harpoons if you lucky. my Akula has two torpedos that can be used for asw and wakehoming asuw, anti ship missiles, anti-sub missiles, land attack cruise missiles, rocket torpedos, oh and I have 8 torpedo tubes that I can load them into. I used to play the Akula exclusively when I had the stock game, but since getting the RA mod Ive tried out some of the other boats, and am actually favoring an alfa right now.


And because of this I tried playing an American sub a little while back, I couldn't figure out the waterfall display and the depth being in feet really messed me up. I like how its easier to detect contacts with a waterfall sonar, but I still sometimes get lost with it, the Russian round display is easy for me because I can visually see the exact direction like a compass, and can easily figure its bearing relative to mine. to each his own though.
