Yesterday I could not load a saved game so I loaded the previous save OK. The problem save was definitely made on the surface but I could not swear that there were no surface ships in view. Your saves are still kept in C:\Users\Me\My docs\...
Please make sure that you grant "write permission" to that folder by right - clicking that folder --- properties --- and uncheck "read only" --- this
can help in a lot of cases...
