I've found that I mostly get one shotted at long range by PzIV F2 and Stug III F's whilst driving my T34, the turret of a T34 is a showstopper as one shot through there and you can scoop out the crew with a spatula.
And as for taking damage well, eh....found myself too often being shotted somewhere which puts me dead stop in the middle of the last place I want to be. As for a T34 or T50 dealing more damage, ha....I found the T50 awfull unless you got up close and personal do any serious damage and with a T34 I wouldn't take my chances face to face against a Stug III F or PzIV F2 on long range.
Match making, having to face a tier up or tier down isn't that problematic imo...ofcourse it isn't fun to face a KV1, PzIV, Sherman whilst in a T26, Stuart or PzII but you still can do some damage and destroy tanks. Unlike in WoT when it comes to facing a tier up you become as useful as a Clay pigeon
