The 88 COE had Hendrickson 46,000 lb tandem spring ride suspension with a 20,000lb steer axle and huge super singles on it. Do you want to talk about brutal ride? The only air suspension was in the seat and the tires at 100lbs/sq".
The '01 FLD has both air ride and the 46,000 lb suspension, but with a 14,600lb steer on tapered springs. I blow all the air out of the seat and basically sit on the floor. There are 42" from my butt to the top of my head, so I can get away with 'sitting on the floor' and still see over the hood.
