I have CoD2, in fact I'm in a realism unit for it and I have to say that its quite a disappointing game. Apart from the fact that it feels like CoD with a 2 slapped on the end to make it sound fancy and that we've waiting for the patch and the SDK forever, it feels like I'm playing Counter Strike on a engine inbetween HL2 and the old HL.
If you want a FPS that's as indepth and challenging as simulator games I'd suggest Red Orchestra. It was a mod for the UT2004 engine, but it's been re-released by Valve on Steam. It's ground combat on the Eastern Front at it's finest.
- Bolt action rifles require you to work the action in order to eject the spent casing and chamber a new round.
- Tanks cannot be efficiently driven and gunned by one person, you either main the turret, drive, or man a hull MG.
- MG barrels overheat, you can change them.
- Your gun can be rested and stablized on just about any surface in the game.
The features of this game go on and on. It's realistic right from the start.
I wish I had my joystick with me. I really miss playing IL-2:FB+AEP+PF.
I also didn't play any SHIII yesterday, although I ran the game about a million times. I was trying to get my campaign ready for Wolves at War's 20th patrol and getting all my mods in order.
