Indeed a great loss. Jimmy Ruffin, like so many other soul/R&B/blues/jazz singers of the 50s, 60s, and 70s, is often overlooked or overshadowed by some of the more media covered stars of the time, but, like tohes overlooked, he was one of those artists who is pointed back to by the newer artist as an inspiration for their own works. That he was asked to record by younger acts Like Weller and Heaven 17 speaks volumes as to Ruffin's influence on music...
