One of my favourite things is walking out into empty open space in the snow - especially on ice, where the ice sets for the winter. I grew up on the Gulf of Finland, which freezes over solid during the winter, and later also had similar opportunities on the Ottawa river. It's a pretty neat experience when you go out at night, get a mile or so off shore, and you know you're the only person around and can just look up at the stars (or snow, or the city lights you left behind) and enjoy the quiet for a bit.
Some people still think I'm weird and/or have a deathwish by doing that, but it's really cool just unplugging for a bit and wandering off somewhere that you can be out of earshot of everything and have a bit of one-on-one time with the world

Something about it being freezing cold is also sort of therapeutic.
