Never watched Gravity but just want to point out that is science fiction not science fact.
The sounds in space thing is another effect of the audio visual nature of film and the fact one must keep the viewer interested.
Kubrick pulled of the vacum and no sound in
2001 again though he used the silence to add effect in that case the silence added tension. In other films like Alien the ship making noise helps convey a feeling of dread.
Not saying you are horriable person myself the real world can be enough to deal with. When I read a book or watch a movie I want an escape from reality.
