I set the ai_sensors.dat visual range to the same as my view distance (16000m), though it still wont shoot further than 8km. Also set the distance for cannons at 16km in the sim.cfg and adjusted crewai.cfg just in case.
The weapons in the gun.sim are already all set at 35km or more and the shells at 50km.

Also in the sensors.dat is a visual range. Which was also set at 16000m.

Still only 8km. Though thats better than 5. Im not sure where else to look for a setting.
