For my current career, I've been sticking to the rule that I'm verbotten to use F12 to acquire any information for attack, navigation, or evasion. If I'm safely silent running away and I want to see a burning cruiser slowly sink, then I'll F12 and zoom over to the cruiser and try to ignore (i.e. turn away) from any escorts that are hunting me so that I don't spoil the challenge. It's a bit messy, but sometimes I just have to see them sink. Especially with sinking dynamics as implemented in Tonnage War. It's CRAZY.
