Problem is, they can't link the shawl to the murder scene. Amos Simpson was with the Metropolitan Police, not City, on who's jurisdiction the murder of Kate Eddowes took place. There are no records of Simpson being at the scene and there is no records of any shawl found on Eddowes (her belongings were listed as they took the body to the mortuary on Golden Lane). Simpson couldnt even have asked his superiors to take the shawl home as his superiors would have been Metropolitan Police, who had no part in the investigation.

So, there. Humbug!
