Sounds like I had the same issue. UbiPlay tried to install something and the it stopped working. I get the windows message "Uplay Launcher has Stopped working".

An easy solution that might work for you is to right click on the SH5.exe (or the icon) and select "Run as Administrator". This solved whatever issue it was having and it is easier that re-installing it. Hope this works for you, the next time it happens!!
