In the stock game do decals (e.g. blackening from damage) disappear after some time? I seem to remember them persisting.

I have Tonnage War 1.03 and I've noticed that my burn damage disappears, as do the deck gun shell holes and torpedoe holes on other ships. Not sure if a mod changed this or not. Is there a way to make these things persist? It's so great to come back to port with a blackened boat (a la Das Boot).
