Not to mention the fact that the US Electoral college system discourages many from voting, because the states they live in are already "spoken for". If it had been a nationwide popular election for Prez, Kerry would have won in a landslide. Not that a popular presidential election will be happening any time soon, it is clearly to the disadvantage of the GOP, everyone having an equal say.
Just to say there is an old joke in Scotland people are so thick if Labour puts a pig up as a candidate, with a Labour flag on it, in a safe Labour seat. The pig would win in a landslide vote. That one goes back to the 1960's and still is the case today.
