If was doing your project I would use retouched pics of the attack peri with the conning tower background and observation scope with the control room background.

my opinion for the spoken backgrounds is to make them black ( or so shadowed that you can barely see a thing there). imo, whatever you see outside the hole of scope is just an immersion killer . think about it...,when the captain stick his eyes in the hole , can he see anything of the interior ?

I have actually done this for the binocs and uzo, mainly for night time targeting. The scopes I wasn't to concerned about as there a red mask available - but will look into it.
