I also run off a laptop and have come across issues with games in the past. Here's what I have, what settings I use. Not saying they will help because my laptop is actually really well setup, but maybe it'll help.

Programs I use:
Display Drivers Uninstaller
Nvidia Display Drivers (Note* I always download the beta drivers. Most would not as they sometimes are buggy.)
Intel Display Drivers or if you would like to select your devices: Intel Download Center
MSI Afterburner (Only use MSI Afterburner if you have a Nvidia Card)
ToolWiz GameBoost or the full program ToolWiz Care
