I stumbled over Shoshana Zuboff yesterday, who was unknown to me before, an American professor for economy with specialising in information technology and holding additional degrees in philosophy and social psychology (interesting mixture that, I would say). She has a lot of intelligent and frightenign things to say about how companies like Google form a new form of absolut power that is beyond any checks and balances or countercontrol and that has the power to rule all the world and influence significantly the life of everybody the more such services are getting embedded in contemporary life. In preincipla the same what I preach since years, too, just that he has even more insightful arguments why to fear this new absolutism. These companies have the power to significantly influence, hinder and manipulate your lfie andf career. Just imagine how much many people in the job world already depend on services provided by a very few internat companies that act, collect data and control beyond any political or legal control. But it is about private life as well, from banking to telecommunicating. The power that Google and Co. are acucmulating , unhinderd and unregulated and uncointro9lled, is frightening.
