In summertime i think it was very hot inside a sub.
When i was at sea with U17 (class 206a) we had temps from 36°C near the torpedotubes up to 75°C in the engineroom when we cruised surfaced. Submerged the sub "cooled" down to 30°C-55°C inside 28°C Med-sea.
In wintertime we had to wear warm sweaters because inside the sub we had just 12°C - even when all engines were running.
In dezember 2002 we left Porto and went submerged through the biscaya. In Porto we went swimming in the atlantik on dec. the 2. because we had temps above 20°C and the water still had 18°C. Two weeks later near the chanel we surfaced because of to high waves for submerged cruising. Wind 5-6 and temps 10°C below zero. I got undercooled on the bridge whitin three hours - inside three trowsers, 5 sweaters and 2 winterjackets. From then we left the bridge unmaned and drove the sub from the zentrale while the "Turmluk" was closed.
So it depends on season and sea i think. In summer at northsea surfaced with hot sun above it was very hot i think. In winter at atlantik surfaced in storm it was very could.
